The title of the exhibition reflects the students’ approach to the process as their discussions and debates on the final selection of artworks reflected ‘the space between’ – the space between the disciplines of graphic design and art and also between each student’s initial instinctive preferences and the curatorial decisions made as a group to create an interesting exhibition with a strong visual dynamic.
This travelling exhibition launched in September at the Oriel Gallery at Clotworthy House, Antrim before heading to Pearse Museum, Rathfarnham. It will then travel to the Parliament Buildings, Stormont Estate, Belfast in January 2018 and will conclude at the Backstage Theatre & Centre for the Arts in Co. Longford in March 2018.
The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue (available in Irish and English) that provides information on the project and invites the reader to join the students on the journey they took in making their selection. This is available at www.opw.ie/en/latestnews.
